Fun dive is fun. However, not having a person in charge is not fun. We should be have a better organized fun dives. Here are some of my thoughts and suggestions we could discuss in the next meeting:
- We should have one person in charge for each fun dive.
- The diver-in-charge responsibility is a volunteer basic, per event.
- Any member can be a diver-in-charge. Diver-in-charge does not have to have advance/rescue/master certification but must make sure there is one diver in the divers attending the dive event with the mentioned certification.
- Each fun dive should have one diver-in-charge assigned. The diver-in-charge is responsible for:
  • Make sure divers know the dive site, the dive date and time.
  • Responsible for carrying the first aid kit, emergency local police/hospital phone numbers
  • Diver-in-charge can optionally offer water, food, and snacks...or any creative entertaining for the day. Funds (if purchases or tips are involved) goes to the club funds. There should not be a personal profit for being a diver-in-charge but there should be a recognitions, material awards (depending on the amount of the club funds and expenses), a verbal awards, or even just an applause in the club's monthly meeting, for being a good/best diver-in-charge.
  • For the comfort of divers, each diver-in-charge should have his/her own creative way to attract divers to the fun dive event. The diver-in-charge should have a fun, sensible way for collecting funds. Attending divers should never have to pay for any thing when attend the fun dive event.
I imagine we eventually will have our favorite diver-in-charge(s) and that would make the dives more fun. The above are only my suggestions, we can discuss and have a firm written rules agreed in our monthly meeting.
